Who We Are: Dublin
Steve Bridge
I joined Sheppard Moscow in January 1998, and have worked on a range of assignments in sectors as diverse as manufacturing and financial services. The variety is something I enjoy. I like working closely with a client, getting to know their particular issues, challenges and aspirations. And then seeking to understand and use the common themes and unique differences that accompanying those things.
Within our business, I've been leading our thinking about teams and team effectiveness. I've worked with a number of colleagues to develop the model of "effective collaboration" that we using increasingly in our team development work.
Recent assignments include:
- Helping a global pharmaceutical business develop more effective relationships with regulators.
- Working with partners and practice heads of a leading international professional services firm.
- Helping to develop leaders of the future within a major European car manufacturer.
- Working with executive teams in Financial Services to develop more productive relationships and decision-making processes.
- Helping emerging leaders in a major utility company to develop greater personal impact.
- Providing one to one coaching for executives in a range of businesses.
Other significant assignments I've led:
- Helping European managers in a major US manufacturing business enhance their strategic influence.
- Working with a major pharmaceutical company to create and implement a world-class management development programme.
- Helping a major Financial Services organisation to shift its leadership style and approach to engender a more engaged and enabled culture.
- Working with the Marketing and Design groups of a major global manufacturing business, helping them develop more effective relationships and create a shift from a manufacturing to a market led organisation.
My main interest is helping clients to shift their ways of working, lead change and manage transition in a way that builds commitment and encourages collaboration. I work to facilitate this at personal, interpersonal and group levels.
Before joining Sheppard Moscow I worked for Esso and Lloyds Bank, in a variety of project, line, matrix and department management roles, mainly in IT. The turning point for me came in 1992, when I was appointed to lead a major cultural and organisational change programme. The next four years were the most stimulating of my career to that point, operating as leader, facilitator, catalyst and role model in order to initiate, manage and implement the change.
One of the main things that attracted me to Sheppard Moscow was recognising many shared values, including the importance of continuous learning, and the belief in change as a personal process; that every individual has the capability to develop and change.
Outside work, my main interest (my wife would say 'obsession') is golf. I play every weekend, whatever the weather, and the first holiday I book each year is the week of the Open Championship. I've been going to watch each year since 1985. I buy a season ticket for the week, enjoying the informality and burgeoning tension of the practice days as much as the championship itself.
