Who We Are: Dublin
Orla Kelly
I am a HR professional by background, with twenty years experience in HR and Organisational Development. I hold a Bachelor of Business Studies, a Masters degree in Business Administration, and am a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.
I’ve worked in the automotive, health care, financial services, and Hi-Tech sectors. My approach to people development centres on the belief that each person is unique and that all development should be flexible enough to allow for the individual, while working within a group. I’m a firm believer in diversity and try to factor it into all development work that I do. I also set great store by trying to make learning creative and fun - as well as challenging - which helps people learn and absorb more, as well as get a lot more enjoyment out of the experience.
I have extensive experience in organisational development work, notably across global organisations. My work has included design and facilitation of large scale, cross-cultural leadership development programmes; diversity strategy and implementation work in Ireland and across Europe, the Middle East and Africa; high potential talent identification and development; and delivering organisational development interventions to support excellence in mergers and acquisitions, employee engagement, organisational culture and performance management.
I joined Sheppard Moscow as a consultant in early 2007, moving from the corporate world into consultancy in order to work with a wider mix of people and industries, and make a greater contribution. I strongly believe that there is a wealth of untapped potential in organisations, which could significantly enhance their effectiveness as well as employees’ quality of life, and it is enormously rewarding for me to be able to draw out that potential.
My role is varied, interesting and challenging, comprising organisational consulting and diverse management and leadership development work to support clients primarily from the pharmaceutical, telecommunications, finance and retail sectors. My practice around one-to-one personal coaching within an organisational context has expanded considerably, and I am involved in the design and facilitation of a number of integrated leadership programmes. I also run in-house programmes for cross-functional and cross-cultural teams with a focus on behavioural change to enhance participants’ ability to be influential within their organisation, and I provide organisations with consulting across a wide range of organisation development areas.
I have a deep personal interest in learning and view everything in life, including the difficult experiences, as an opportunity to learn something new. I work hard on my own learning to enable me to become more effective personally and better able to support and coach others. I live in Dublin and really enjoy walking by the sea when I get time. I am also very interested in holistic approaches to life and like to experience and learn about complementary therapies.
