Open Programmes: Advanced Facilitation Skills
Organisations are increasingly looking internally for people who are skilled and able to facilitate development and learning within their organisations. They need people to be more than "trainers" and to facilitate change as well as "one-off" development. This programme is aimed at helping organisations develop this internal capacity. The aim of the course is to help people increase their range of skills in facilitation in order to respond to the changing needs of their clients. As well as looking at their skills of facilitation, it also allows them to develop more understanding of what they personally bring as a facilitator that enhances and hinders their performance and how they may hold yourself back from being really successful.
People who come on this programme often expect it to be about facilitation tools and techniques e.g. brainstorming, icebreakers and problem solving techniques.
Whilst this programme will definitely give you useful frameworks and models for designing learning events, and will help you to understand when different techniques will be appropriate, it is not its intended focus. The prime focus of the event is how skilled facilitators work with individuals and groups in change contexts, hence the "advanced" nature of the programme.
It is therefore aimed at those who are trying to change the culture of their organisations. Experienced and skilled managers, leaders, trainers, consultants and facilitators of personal, team and organisational change.
